From Jeffery.Thomas at minot.af.mil Fri Mar 19 12:42:09 2010 From: Jeffery.Thomas at minot.af.mil (Thomas, Jeffery A MSgt USAF AFGSC 5 MXG/MXL) Date: Fri, 19 Mar 2010 12:42:09 -0500 Subject: [Minot-general] FW: [ND Wing CAP] Our Disaster Missions Message-ID: <201003191747.o2JHlwdS018934@qjvf-fwl-001.minot.af.mil> -----Original Message----- From: nd-general-bounces at lists.ndcap.us [mailto:nd-general-bounces at lists.ndcap.us] On Behalf Of NDWG DO Sent: Thursday, March 18, 2010 10:55 PM To: 'ND Wing General Mailing List' Subject: [ND Wing CAP] Our Disaster Missions I have seen the pictures and the information concerning the number of personnel and hours that have been put in during our Disaster Response Missions the past few weeks. That includes the aircrews, ground teams, communicators and mission staff personnel. The numbers are already adding up to figures that are mind boggling. And those don't include the hours of our NHQ staff, CAP-USAF personnel or 1st Air Force. I was asked by someone if I was proud of the members of the North Central Region for the response you have given so far. I said that I am always proud of each and every member of our Region. And when I don't think you can raise that pride bar any higher, you do it. The long hours we spend every year in training and the hours we spent this past winter doing table top exercises in anticipation of what we are now doing has paid off. In everything I see there is professionalism and pride. And that is what I have heard describe our work too. But I would expect that because we are the Civil Air Patrol and we have proven that we are one Civil Air Patrol. Wings working together as well as communicators and mission staff from throughout the Region have come together in one solid team. All of you are sacrificing so we can ease the distress of those in the mission areas. If what we are doing can mitigate some of the consequences of the flooding, we have done our job. If what we are doing has helped out Emergency Management Agencies and made their jobs easier, we did what we were supposed to do. Most of us don't expect nor will we probably hear a personal thank you from anyone we helped. But that's not why we perform our missions. We do it for love of country and our American families. We have done it for that reason for 68 years and we will always do it for that same reason. Civil Air Patrol volunteers serving our great nation. Tell all of your members that their Region commander knows what they are doing. Tell them I am so proud of them. Whether they are actively engaged in our missions now or training in anticipation of helping, I know what they are contributing. And tell them from the bottom of my heart, I said "Thank You".
