This is a guided exercise. That means that we will be watched very closely by the folks from North Central Liaison Region in Minneapolis. Needless to say, this is a very important exercise. To make this work, I need your help. Specifically, this is what I need. 1. A target needs to be placed somewhere between Minot and Towner. This will be used for a route search and possible air-to-ground coordination exercises. An ELT will be placed with this target. The target can be the aircraft pieces we have on a trailer or something else. I need someone to place that target and ELT. This should be placed no sooner than Friday afternoon/evening. 2. Three or four targets need to be placed somewhere SW of Minot. These targets would be used for grid search training. We have target material in the hanger at the airport. They should be letters easily configured with the material available. These should be placed no sooner than Friday afternoon/evening. 3. Three or four tables and some folding chairs for planning. 4. Someone needs to make contact with Warren Pietsch at the airport to get permission to use his large hanger next to the GA terminal. This is needed as a place for everyone to congregate. He has allowed us to use it before; we just need to ask. 5. Let JD (Asst Airport Manger) know that we will be holding an exercise and will need the GA Terminal conference room all day. I will take care of that. 6. Staff radio operator(s). This can be cadets. I can provide training if needed. 7. Someone to manage check-in of personnel and equipment Saturday morning. I can provide training if needed. 8. Do we want our cadets to assist with aircraft parking? If so, we will need a flight-line supervisor to oversee operations. If not, the FBO will handle this. That's about it. We will talk about this at our next meeting on August 6 to make sure that we have all of the bases covered.
