One of the best places to start is to be trained as an airborne scanner. To that end, a scanner ground school will be held on Feb 2 at the GA Terminal. The class will start at 0900 and we should be finished around 1500. The only prerequisite for the course is that you must have completed the General ES training and have taken a 50 question test. This training and test are available on-line at the General Emergency Services page on the National web site. Just follow this link. There is a short (46 slides) slide presentation to watch and a 50 question test to take. When you are ready to take the test, select the 50 question (part 1 AND 2) option. You need both parts, so you might just as well do them at the same time. You will find all of the answers in the slide presentation. After completing this ground school, you will be ready to start flying. You will need two training flights to become fully qualified. Once qualified, you can start training as a mission specialist, with emphasis on videography, photography, and using SDIS (Satellite Digital Imaging System). Remember, the ground school is Saturday, February 2 starting at 0900 at the GA Terminal. Hope to see you there. William E. The vacuum manifold valve that leaks was removed on Friday, Jan 18. It was sent to a rebuild facility on Friday. He talked to them this morning and was told that the valve was being worked on and that we probably would not get it back until about the middle of next week. Any plans you may have to fly N9799E should be rescheduled for later next week. BTW, the hangar door has been fixed and now works properly. The class will start at 0900. We will break for lunch at noon, and finish up in the afternoon, hopefully by 3pm. Anyone needing the training or just wanting a refresher is welcome. William E. The rebuild of the vacuum shuttle valve is taking longer than expected. I talked to Jay (at Pietsch) this morning and he was hoping to get it early next week. I will keep everyone posted. William E.
